Known for its multiple properties, castor oil has been used since Antiquity for beauty care on hair, skin and nails. It is even said that it was the favorite beauty product of Cleopatra, who used it to remove eye makeup...
CASTOR OIL OR CARAPATE OIL?
Castor oil and Carapate oil are vegetable oils obtained from the seeds of the castor plant (Ricinus communis), which grows mainly in India and North America on a small shrub: the carapatier. These two oils have the same chemical composition and the same properties. Their difference comes from the extraction process.
Castor oil, also called ricin oil or castor oil, is extracted by cold pressing of castor seeds before being refined.
Carapate oil, also known as black castor oil, jamaican black castor oil or palma christi, is extracted by hot-pressing, after roasting castor seeds, which are particularly rich in ricin. This is how it obtains its dark color and its smell of roasted coffee/hazelnut.
THE MULTIPLE PROPERTIES AND BENEFITS OF CASTOR OIL
The benefits of castor oil are multiple. Thanks to its composition rich in vitamins and omegas (mono saturated, poly unsaturated and saturated fatty acids), castor oil :
Is anti-inflammatory.
Promotes the manufacture of the cell membrane.
Strengthens the lipidic film to maintain elasticity and flexibility.
Has nourishing and protective properties.
Castor oil is a real beauty product with various uses in cosmetics: for hair, skin and nails.
A VEGETABLE OIL... SO VEGAN !
Is castor oil really vegan? Yes, of course it is! Castor oil is translated as castor oil in English. Calling castor oil "castor oil" is a translation error because it is a "false friend"... The cute little rodent is called beaver in English. Like all Soteix vegetable oils, castor oil is natural and vegan!
